Here to families!
A girl travels with her family back home by car. On their way, the girl's mom and dad are excited to see the watercress. So they pick the watercress along with the girl and her brother. The little girl just hates the idea of picking watercress from the muddy ditch. After finishing picking up the watercress, they leave for home. At dinner, mom serves a dish made of watercress. The little girl refuses to eat it. But, something changes the little girl's attitude towards the watercress.
We picked this book based on a recommendation. Some children feel embarrassed about their families but come to terms with it, mainly as adults, when they understand the reason behind it. This is one such story where the little girl realizes why her family is in a certain way and understands the pride of her family. The illustrations magically transport one to the world of the little girl.
Watercress by Andrea Wang is a must-read for children and adults that conveys the intricacies of a family through frame-worthy illustrations by Jason Chin.
