Two hamsters, called Waffles and Pancakes, live in a pet store. They are good friends. Two boys come to the store to purchase pets. And, Poor boy Danny takes Waffles while rich boy Griffin takes Pancakes as their pets. So now, Waffles and Pancakes live in different homes. Danny and Griffin study at the same school, and one day they realize their mutual interest in hamster pets and decide to meet at Griffin’s house. Though Waffles meets his friend with excitement, he gets disappointed after seeing the luxurious life of Pancakes. What happens next?
We picked this book for its title. The book narrates the story of friends who get different homes and how they realize what’s more important to each other’s life. The illustrations work well for the storyline.
Waffles and Pancakes by Cindy Springsteen is a beautiful story of friendship with a lesson for children about what’s more important in life.
