The Sparkly Bun

The only me is me!

Emme wears the same clothing to school twice a row, and her classmates mock her. Then Emme realizes that her classmates are dressed stylishly, so she asks her parents for the same when she goes home in the evening. They warn her, however, that she already has many clothes and should be more creative, like her brother Arlo, and repurpose some of her everyday outfits. But will that plan work for Emme?

We picked this book for its cover. This is the known story of small children who quickly become dissatisfied with what they lack and lose sight of their strengths and originality. However, with an easy-to-read and colorfully illustrated story of Emme, the book manages to help children settle this inner conflict.

The Sparkly Bun by Keith Stoeckeler, whimsically illustrated by Lana Lee, will inspire children to embrace their individuality rather than strive to emulate others.
