Light at the end.
For a long time, an old lightkeeper worked at a lighthouse at the far end of the North. The lightkeeper realized one cold evening that he had never had company in all these years. And he makes a snowman on the island. He spends all of his free time with the Snowman. But, after a while, the old lighthouse keeper must leave the island. He switches off the light and bids the snowman farewell, leaving him in tears. The Snowman becomes lonely and misses the old man. A few sea creatures come and go, but no one keeps the snowman company like the old man. And the Snowman fades. What happens to the Snowman?
We picked this book for its blurb. The story is about a lonely old man who forms an unusual camaraderie with his newfound friend, Snowman, and then loses touch with him. However, the Snowman's random act of saving a few lives protects his own. The illustrations are lively, which helps the story flow.
Emanuela Mannello's whimsical illustrations and A.R. Riser's heartening story with surprises and turns make The Snowman on the Beach an exciting read for young children.
