Wear it with pride!
A long time ago, a big city had a movie theatre that everyone in the town wanted to go to. Charlie, the little mouse, too, wanted to go to the cinema. But his tiny figure could not navigate the crowd. Disappointed, Charlie walked back, followed by his concerned friend, the wingless bug. Suddenly, Charlie found a human hat and wanted to try it out. To his surprise, it fitted him well. He sported the hat, performed some dances, and walked confidently until some street mice made fun of him. After that, Charlie felt ashamed and walked on the streets mindlessly. Finally, he ended up in the gutter. What happened to Charlie?
We picked this book for its intriguing title. The story is simple and easy to read for young children. It encourages children to follow their dreams with confidence and perseverance. The illustrations capture well the yesteryear cityscape and the mood of the characters.
The Hat by Darya Lenkou is a brilliantly illustrated story of a little mouse’s determination to overcome obstacles and follow his dreams.
