The Boy Who Said Baa

The baa awakening!

While his buddies talked, the little boy could only say baa. He said baa for everything, much to his parents' disappointment, and despite their best efforts, he didn't improve. The doctors who examined him indicated he would improve, but it would take time. However, some cruel people mocked him. That year, the church decided to put on a Christmas nativity play, and guess what role the boy got?

We picked this book for its cover. The book offers a humorous look at a boy's slow speech process, with an underlying message about not discounting anyone's worth because of disabilities. The amusing illustrations enhance the narration.

The Boy Who Said Baa by Judy Dryden is a hilarious story with an underlying message of empathy told through Rosie Brooks' vivid illustrations that will make children laugh and think simultaneously.
