Little Raven has seven secret friends whom she meets while falling asleep at night. One night she meets Uriel, the angel of light. She asks him to take her to planet venus to meet its goddess, Aphrodite. Little Raven wants the goddess of beauty and grace to solve a problem for her. A problem that she faces every day at school. Another little girl at school calls her ugly because of her dark skin. Uriel tries to convince her by stating how beautiful her soul is. Still, little Raven is adamant about meeting Aphrodite to change herself. Did Raven meet the goddess? What happened to Raven?
The book communicates a beautiful message of healthy self-esteem to kids. In addition, the rhyming text makes it an exciting read for young children. The illustrations perfectly complement the story. We loved the way angel Uriel is portrayed in the book. The cover is adorable.
