The power of a kind act.
Little Emilia is pleased with her small town and her life there. Then, unfortunately, a fire breaks and changes everything, forcing people to flee the place. It forced the little kid to leave the town with her family while leaving all her treasured belongings and friends. She cannot settle in the new city. She longs to go back to her small town. Her mom consoles her and tells her that the new city is her new home and that she will go to a new school. This dismay Emilia. The worst nightmare is a new school in the middle of a school year full of strangers. The new school’s principal asked Emilia and her mom to visit the school. Little Emilia’s stomach churns, and she grows more anxious. What happened to Emilia? Did she like her new school?
When children go through unfortunate events, they undergo indescribable trauma. But if they are supported well, they can be more resilient than adults. This book can help children understand and move on while recovering from such events. It also can help kids learn compassion towards others. The illustrations are charming.
