I said no!
Little Doug dislikes being hugged. No, not today, not with pals, not with grandmother, not with his bestie, not even with his piggy, and not with anyone. He simply does not like hugs, except for his mother. But, instead of a hug, Doug wishes to do something else.
We picked this book for its title. You have to ask permission to hug someone, and when someone says no, it means no, as Doug shows you with his narrative. The text is ideal for a read-aloud session. And the illustrations are vibrant and appropriate for the plot.
Carrie Finison's Don't Hug Doug, masterfully illustrated by Daniel Wiseman, is a hug story with a gentle message about personal space and consent.
