Diego the smelly dog

The beautiful bond!

Ava and Gramps were walking back home, and a dog followed them. The dog sat by their porch steps. So Ava went closer to him. He was stinky, but she liked him. She wanted to keep him forever. Gramps reminded her of mom’s view on pets, and he suggested leaving him in the rescue shelter. What happened to the dog?

We picked this book for its title. The book talks about a little girl who shows compassion for an old dog and wants to care for it despite her family situation. And finally, how her family comes forward to fulfill her wish. The illustrations work well for the storyline.

Diego the smelly dog by A. G. Russo is a heartening adoption story of a stray dog with warm illustrations and easy-to-read texts.
